She graduated in medicine and surgery in 1967 at the Università del Sacro Cuore in Rome, after studying at the University of Navarra, Spain.
Now she belongs the Union of the Centre. She is a specialist in psychiatry and infant neuropsychiatry. From 1972 to 1975, she worked in a center which took care of teenagers in Milan (Associazione FAES - Famiglia e Società), which provided services of advice to parents.
She was Director of the Educational and for research purposes Didactic Department at the University Biomedical Campus of Rome.
She was past President of the Committee Science & Life (Comitato Scienza & Vita) for law 40 and President of the Italian Society of pedagogia doctor. She was Vice president of the Italian Society of medical computer science.
Binetti has written more than 200 articles and numerous volumes in the field of medical education. Since 1991, she has been working at the Biomedical Campus of Rome, guiding the developments of medical faculty.
On 3 March 2007, during a show on the La7 channel, Binetti said that gays and lesbians need medical care, maintaining that homosexuality is an illness.
In 2010 she moved to the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is also member of various institutions, among which the National Committee of Bioethics. After the disbandment of the Parliament following the fall of the Prodi cabinet, she was re-elected in 2008 as a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.
