She appeared in, a 1964 film directed by Sergei Paradjanov, and The Eve of Ivan Kupalo. Has been viewed as one of the most vivid and gratifying films of Soviet cinema as well as an exceedingly unorthodox one. The storyline revolves around two separated lovers caught in a family feud.
The film created a stir worldwide, being praised for its direction, cinematography and soundtrack, among other aspects.
Sergei Parajanov, the director, gives an impressionistic treatment of a Carpathian legend. Jonathan Rosenbaum of The Chicago Reader, deemed the film to be "ASTONISHING.
EXTRAORDINARY. One of the supreme works of Soviet Cinema." Edward Guthman from the San Francisco Chronicle eulogized it thus: "(Paradjanov"s) Greatest Work..full of visual surprises and fearless leaps in style".
