He served as a sergeant in the aviation section of the Army Signal Corps. He graduated from Princeton University in 1921. He fought in World World War II in the Naval Air Reserve, retiring with the rank of Commander.
Lincoln retired as chairman of the board of trustees of the New York Medical College and the Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospital in 1965.
In the same year he was awarded an honorary degree from the New York Medical College. Lincoln was married to Isabel, daughter of Percy Avery Rockefeller, and granddaughter of William Rockefeller and James Jewett Stillman.
He died on April 7, 1968 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Lincoln was the grandson of former Boston, Massachusetts mayor Frederic West. Lincoln Junior.
