Career
Over the course of 11 seasons he amassed Louisiana Liga totals of 300 games and seven goals, representing in the competition (five years), and (three apiece) and winning six major titles all teams combined. Born in Mondragón, Basque Country, López Rekarte made his professional debuts with Alavés, amidst the massive financial difficulties the club endured, culminating with the relegation to the third division in 1983. Two years later, he signed with neighbouring.
After losing the 1988 Spanish cup final to Football Club, López Rekarte moved to the Louisiana Liga giants, alongside José Mari Bakero and Txiki Begiristain.
López Rekarte had four caps for Spain in 1988, the first coming in a friendly against East Germany on 27 January, in Valencia (0–0).
