Background
Elaisa comes from a long relatives, his father has a total number of seven siblings, his mother the eldest of five siblings all together make a total number of thirty-six first cousins. His father is of Rotuman descent and his mother is of Tuvaluan/Fijian/Irish decent.
Career
He is currently pursuing further education in the United States. Elaisa has been swimming for more than a decade and is now the oldest(swimmer) of the Tritons Swim Club Suva where he has been training under the guidance of Willie Elaisa (Father/Coach) and Eugene Panuve. Elaisa has represented his country on numerous occasions to swimming competitions around the globe.
He has represented his country at the 2012 Summer Olympics, World Aquatic Championship(Rome,2009)(Shanghai,2011), World Short-Course Swimming Championship(Istanbul,2012), Pacific Games (Nouméa, 2011)(Proportional navigation guidance,2015), Oceania Swimming Championship (Christchurch,2008)(Apia(Samoa)2010)(Nouméa,2012)(Auckland,2014)
Paul Elaisa (born 21 January 1994 in Suva) is a swimmer who competed for Fiji at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
His selection caused controversy, as Douglas Miller had been initially nominated. In the Olympics, he ranked 47th at the Men"s 100m freestyle event and did not advance to the semifinals.
Elaisa has obtained an Oceania Swimming Scholarship to study in the United States. He spent his Freshmen year attending Iowa Lakes Community College before transferring over to Lincoln College(Illinois) where he plans to graduate with his associate degree.
He has been on the Varsity Swim team at both Colleges and swam under Coach Jonathan Jordan.
