Career
The Presidential Commission, with Muwanga as chairman, held the powers of the president of Uganda between 22 May and 15 December 1980. This was after Muwanga, together with Yoweri Museveni, Oyite Ojok and Tito Okello had deposed Godfrey Binaisa in a coup on 12 May 1980. The election results were contested.
Yoweri Museveni waged a guerrilla war in protest, eventually becoming president
From 1 August to 25 August 1985, he served as Prime Minister.
