Career
Unknown in his native land, he played most of his professional career in Portugal for Vitória de Guimarães and Sporting Lisbon. His nickname stems from his birthplace. Born in Cascavel, Paraná, Cascavel started his career with local amateurs Cascavel Clube Recreativo, then successively represented Criciúma Esporte Clube, Joinville Esporte Clube and Fluminense Football Club.
In 1984 he moved to Portugal, signing with league club F.C. Porto, but his spell there was quite unassuming, as he amassed virtually no official appearances.
Cascavel was then signed by Sporting Clube de Portugal for the 1987-1988 campaign and scored 23 goals, but the Lisbon club finished fourth. He also scored six goals in six matches in the club"s quarterfinal run in the Union of European Football Associations Cup Winners" Cup.
Cascavel"s numbers reduced significantly in the following years, and he retired in June 1991 still in Portugal, with Gil Vicente Football Club. Team Individual.
