Margaret "Peggy" Singer was born in London, England, the daughter of Adolph Singer and the former Gladys Follick. Robertson first met Hitchcock in 1948 at Denham Studios in London, England and moved to Elstreet Studios to assist Hitchcock with the production of Under Capricorn (1948) in which she helped resolve conflicts between Ingrid Bergman and the director Robertson was Hitchcock"s de facto associate producer, though she was never credited as such.
Peggy Singer married Canadian film editor Douglas Robertson.
She was widowed in 1983, and died in 1998, after a long illness. Peggy Robertson was portrayed by actress Toni Collette in the 2012 biographical film Hitchcock.
