He is currently playing with the Brynäs IF organization. Sandström was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (70th overall) of the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Sandström made his Swedish Hockey League debut playing with Brynäs IF during the 2014-2015 SHL season.
