Born in Goa, India, Fernandes first started his career for Salgaocar F.C. during the Manchester United Premier Cup in 2008. In 2013, Fernandes helped lead Salgaocar to the U18 championship before playing for the Salgaocar U19 side in the I-League U20 championship. Fernandes eventually made his senior professional debut for Salgaocar on 23 January 2015 in the I-League against Royal Wahingdoh. He came on in the 83rd minute for Karma Tsewang as Salgaocar lost the match 0–1.
