The same year, he received the Belgian Golden Shoe. In 1982, he entered the squad, getting three Bundesliga titles (from 1985 to 1987) and two German cups (1984 and 1986). Pfaff first played with the Red Devils in 1976 against legendary rival the Netherlands.
He was the goalkeeper during Euro 80 and Euro 84, and the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.
Pfaff was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living football players in March 2004. He is now a television star in Belgium with the reality show De Pfaffs showing him and his family from 2002 to 2012.
At the 1982 World Cup Pfaff was nearly drowned after he was pushed into the swimming pool by a journalist, while he couldn"t swim. Pfaff married Carmen Seth (born 24 March 1956) on 27 June 1974.
They have three daughters: Debby Edilbert Gerdina (born 30 May 1975), Kelly Yvonne Danny (born 26 July 1977) and Lyndsey Linda Marc (born 4 October 1978).
