Career
She competed at the 1985 World Gymanstics Championships and suffered a broken leg after missing a release move on the uneven bars. As a result, rules were changed to allow coaches to spot their gymnasts during release moves. After a string of nagging ankle injuries and bouts with bulimia, she retired from the sport.
She later went on to graduate from Stanford University.
Sey was named one of the "Top 40 Marketers under 40" by Advertising Age in 2006 for her work at Levi Strauss & Company She has also written and produced two short films.
In 2008, she published Chalked Up: Inside Elite Gymnastics" Merciless Coaching, Overzealous Parents, Eating Disorders, and Elusive Olympic Dreams, a book about her experiences as a top-tier gymnast. The book, which was met with some controversy, details her career as an elite gymnast, including her experience training at the Parkettes National Gymnastics Training Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
