Listed at 5 ft 9 in (175 m), 175 pounds, Gonzales batted and threw right-handed. He was born in San Francisco, California. In an eight-game career, Gonzales posted a 1–2 record with 11 strikeouts and a 4.35 European Research Area in 31.0 innings of work, including two starts and two complete games.
After retiring from baseball, Gonzales was a field judge in the National Football League for 21 seasons, wearing number 54.
He officiated in Super Bowl III. Gonzales died in Torrance, California, at age 81.
