= Early Career Villarreal made his debut for Los Angeles Galaxy on July 15, 2012 against Portland Timbers, coming on at the 90th minute, replacing Robbie Keane. Villarreal scored for Los Angeles Galaxy on July 18, a late long-range goal, to tie the game at 2–2 in only his second Master of Library Science match. = Loan to Mexico On December 20, 2013 Villarreal moved to Mexican club Cruz Azul on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy for a year with an option to buy after the loan for the Mexican side.
Villarreal has played for United States U18, and was also called into the United States U23 camp in the last Olympic cycle.
