Career
He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Hordaland in 1985, and was re-elected on two occasions. He had previously served in the position of deputy representative during the term 1981–1985. In a lower court, he had been sentenced to 60 days in prison on charges of fraud.
In 2011, Borgarting Court of Appeal acquitted him on charges of fraud.
He was ordered to pay Norwegian kroner 100 000 for court costs. Riksadvokaten has appealed for the case to be tried by the Supreme Court.
