His regular position was at full back. He made just one senior appearance for Manchester United in a 0-4 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on 22 October 1977 at the age of 17. In the summer of 1979 he was transferred to Queens Park Rangers for a fee of £7,500.
His career at Q.P.R. was equally short, making just two appearances in the last two games of the 1979-1980 season which Q.P.R. His was given a free transfer to Australian side Sydney Olympic in May 1981.
Rogers was found dead in his car at Ringwood, Hampshire, in February 1992 - ironically in the same month that another Manchester United player of around the same age, Alan Davies, died in similar circumstances. lieutenant is believed that Rogers committed suicide.
