Career
McKean represented the United States at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Individually, she also finished sixth overall in the women"s 100-meter freestyle. During the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, she served as the assistant manager for the United States. swimming team
She also worked as the aquatics director of the Multnomah Athletics Club, and was the first woman selected to be the president of the Oregon Amateur Athletic Union.
