Bryant elected to pursue a career as a professional soccer goalkeeper. In 1987, He moved to England and signed with Boreham Wood Football Club. While playing for Borehamwood, he had an extended trial at Brentford Football Club and played as a trialist in several friendlies. He returned to the United States. that same year to play for the Orlando Lions of the recently established American League.
