Rabb graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and from the University of Michigan with an Mississippi and Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology. He helped start the International Species Information System. He was chairman of the International Union for Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission. is named for him.
