Arthur Bruce (Bruce and Bruce Stock Company as musician and actor), 1916-1917, Lawrence Dehe’s Band, Chicago, 1917-1918, Will Marion Cooks Southern Syncopators, for tour of Europe, 1918-1919.

Recording artist for Okeh, New York City, 1923-1925.

Joined Louis Douglas, Black Revue, as featured actor and musician touring France, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, 1925-1927. Played in Russia with Benny Peytons band, 1927, with Noble Sissle band, in France, 1928, in United States of America, 1930-1932.

Leader New Orleans Footwarmers, 1933-1934, with Noble Sissle band, 1933-1937. Leader of various small jazz combinations, since 1938.

Musician and actor in Broadway production, Hear That Trumpet, 1946.
