Joseph-Marie Timon-David was born on January 29, 1823 in Marseille. Vocation He was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in June 1846. His parishioners were mostly working-class youths.

He founded the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on November, 20, 1852, in Marseille, inspired by his bishop, Saint Eugène de Mazenod. Death He died on April 10, 1891 in his native Marseille.
