In 1973 he was voted Most Valuable Padre after setting career high marks in batting average (282) and in home runs (10). Kendall managed the South Bend Silver Hawks, a Chicago White Sox affiliate in the Midwest League, in 1995 and was a Kansas City Royals bull pen coach.
