Roper made two appearances in two first-class cricket, the first for England against Sussex at Brighton in 1833, with his second appearance coming for Kent against England at Lord"s in 1835. A batsman of unknown handedness, Roper scored a total of 7 runs in his two matches. A farmer by profession, he died at the village of his birth on 10 January 1876.
