He played college football at Connecticut. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Holds the world record for broad jump (12" 3")
Also a gifted track & field athlete, Jones was one of the state"s top performers in the 200m and 400m.
At the 2010 NVL Outdoor T&F Championships, he earned first-place finishes in both the 200-meter dash (2213s) and 400-meter dash (4843s).
Jones was considered a two-star recruit by Rivals.com. Jones played defensive back for the University of Connecticut Huskies from 2011-2014.
He recorded 223 total tackles, 8 interceptions and two touchdowns. His first touchdown was a game winning fumble recovery against USF as a freshman.
The second victimized USF again as a senior with a 70-yard return in what Entertainment and Sports Programming Network announcers called "what might be the UCONN play of the year." He only played in 7 games as a senior, missing the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a shoulder injury suffered in a loss versus

At the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, Jones set a new Combine and World record for standing broad-jump by leaping 12-feet, 3-inches (373m), beating Jamie Collins"s old record of 11-feet, 7-inches (353m) set in 2013. Dallas Cowboys
