She studied from first to twelfth grade in Notre Dame, where she graduated with a 4.00 Grade Point Average. She studied Advertising and Public Relations at University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras, graduating magna cum laude.

She represented Guaynabo municipality at Mission Universe Puerto Rico 2015 and represented Puerto Rico at Mission Universe 2015. Born in Cali, Colombia, her family relocated to Puerto Rico when she was 6 months old and she was raised in Caguas. She then took a year off before continuing her studies to take care of her father who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
Her father died March 1, 2012 and she went on to continue her studies in law.
Catalina is currently a law student at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. Mission Italia nel Mondo 2008

Catalina represented Puerto Rico at Mission Universe 2015 on December 20, 2015 where she competed to succeed the 2014 titleholder, Paulina Vega of Colombia. She failed to place in the Top 15.

On June 11, 2015, Catalina started hosting her own tv segment called "Catalina"s Universe" on the show "Viva Louisiana Tarde" to be aired every Thursday on WAPA television
On October 9, 2014, Catalina represented Guaynabo at the Mission Universe Puerto Rico 2015 pageant where she beat out 44 other contestants and won the title, gaining the right to represent Puerto Rico at Mission Universe. She also won the awards of Mission Sears Best Style and TRESemmé Most Beautiful Hair Award.
