Charles A. Becker was an American food scientist who contributed to the Institute of Food Technologists.
Education
A native of Florida, Becker earned his Bachelor of Surgery in general agriculture and Master of Surgery in dairy science from the University of Florida, then worked toward a Doctor of Philosophy at Michigan State University but did not complete lieutenant
Career
He spent his career in the food industry, retiring as President of Roland Industries, Incorporated. in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1996, a company he joined in 1977 as Vice President and Manager of the Specialty Foods Division. At Roland, he worked in quality assurance, marketing, and product development. He was involved in the national Institute of Food Technologists, serving in membership, finance, awards, and meeting site selection.
Becker also served as assistant treasurer for four years and treasurer for three years.
Becker died in Kirkwood, Missouri.
Membership
A member of Institute of Food Technologists from 1960 until his death in 1999, Becker served in two section as councilor (Mohawk Valley, Street Louis). Becker was also an active member of the American Association of Cereal Chemists, serving on the Board of Directors from 1983 to 1986 and acting as chair of that organization"s Milling & Baking Division in 1983-1984.
