Career
He was an outfielder over parts of six seasons (1960 - "65) with the Saint Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds. During his Major League baseball career of 510 games, James batted 0.255 with 28 home runs, and he batted in 172 runs. James was also a letterman as a halfback in football for the Missouri Tigers in 1957 and "58.
However, he transferred to the Washington University in Saint Louis, where he earned his bachelor"s degree.
