His illustrations have graced magazine covers, book illustrations, newspaper advertisements and various mediums of graphic representation. Leaving his home in Rio de Janeiro in 1959, Da Silva concluded a decade as an in-house talent for J. Walter Thompson, McCann-Erickson and Grand Advertising in Brazil. Working as a studio illustrator and a freelance artist in the United States, the artist"s work appeared regularly in Playboy, Encyclopædia Britannica, World Book Encyclopedia, the Chicago Tribune and other print venues.
Da Silva collaborated with Bob Peak on the Marlboro Manitoba ad campaign.
Da Silva also is responsible for illustrating the William Wrigley Junior. “Fun Facts” campaign, annual report covers for Caterpillar Tractor and International Harvester, and several syndicated color comic strips including Rex Morgan, Doctor of Medicine
