During his 9-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers he posted career numbers of 10 interceptions and 11 recovered fumbles. He was voted to the Pro Bowl four times (1954, 1955, 1956, and 1958) and named a First Team All-Pro one time. In 1960 he coached the Denver Broncos later to start Dodrill Insurance in 1963.
In 2008 Dodrill was honored by the Pittsburgh Steelers during their 75th Season Celebration when he was named to the "Best Pre-1970 Players in Club History" list.
