Aaron Russell is an American volleyball player who plays for the United States men"s national volleyball team and Pennsylvania State University club

Background

He was born on June 4, 1993 in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States.

Education

Pennsylvania State University.

Career

Since autumn 2015, he plays for the Italian club Sir Safety Perugia. Aaron Russell was originally a middle in freshman year in Pennsylvania State University but later converted to outside hitting in his sophomore year. Aaron made this change because he would hear that a middle blocker was always able to swing away at every ball.

However, outsides and opposites would have to play it smart and put in a few roll shots, tips, and even cut the ball around the block.

This motivated Aaron to switch to outside because he felt that there would be a more variety of options to do in a play. Aaron closed off his senior year with a 4.68 kills per set, which ranked second in the nation.

Also, he has a 1,519 kills in his career which ranks fourth and 197 aces ranked second both on Penn State all-time. In 2012 to 2015 Aaron Russell led Penn State to four consecutive National Collegiate Athletic Association semifinals.
