He is also responsible for legitimizing the fan film as an art form with his creation of the "Bootleg Universe" which includes The Punisher: Dirty Laundry, and Power/Rangers. In 2014 Shankar ranked number 20 on Gentlemen’s Quarterly magazine"s list of “Most Influential Global Indian Men."
Shankar studied communications, business, and theater at Northwestern University and graduated in June 2007.
