Career
Her maiden name was Engels. From 1958 to 1971 she was the chief of Christian Democratic Union-women (Frauen-Union). Her highest job in the Christian Democratic Union party was as Deputy Chief of the Christian Democratic Union from 1967 to 1969.
Foreign three years, from 1965 to 1968 she was the deputy leader of the Christian Democratic Union/Christlich Soziale Union (Christian Social Union)-Bundestagsfraktion.
She was appointed Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth in October 1968. She held this post until Chancellor Kurt Georg Kiesinger lost the election in 1969.
