Career
He had a short run in the first team in 1972 after taking 5-41 and 3-29 against Glamorgan seconds, and played a single one-day match the following season, but he never enjoyed any great success, taking only four wickets in first-class and List A games combined. However, his victims were all substantial cricketers: Malcolm Nash and Basher Hassan in the County Championship, and Gordon Greenidge and Roger Prideaux in the John Player League. Shutt"s batting was extremely poor: in 24 innings at firstand second-team level he scored a total of just 35 runs.
His highest score was a mere 8, and he failed to score on 17 occasions.
Indeed, in the middle of his career he got off the mark only twice in a series of 14 consecutive innings.
