Gobbi studied medicine and surgery for his undergraduate studies, graduating in 1983 after defending an experimental thesis on the trauma suffered in motorcycle sports.
Education and He specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1988, publishing research on how to treat leg fractures in athletes. An expert in sports medicine, in 1991 he became the doctor of choice for many of the most famous motocross riders, as well as for athletes in enduro, trial, rally, water sports and alpine skiing. He has been chosen as the official doctor for the Italian Motorcycle Federation for motocross, as well as the Water Sports Federation.
In 2004, he became an AANA “Honorary Member.”
In 2013, Gobbi was elected as the General Secretay of the International Cartilage Repair Society and second Vice President in 2015.
Alberto Gobbi is author and coauthor of over 200 scientific publications, appeared in international peer-reviewed journals, including Cartilage, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Sports Health, The Journal of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy, Tissue engineering, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy review, KSSTA. He recently edited the book The patellofemoral joint: State of the Art in Evaluation and Management
Also notable is his work as a high dissemination of innovations in bio-orthopedic: April 2013 Orthopaedics Today Europe give him his cover. Even italian-english magazine Sphera Medical Journal regularly publishes his articles about orthopedics.

Today, Gobbi splits his time between clinical activity and scientific research in both Italy and the United States of America (after having received the title of “visiting professor” for the years 2014 to 2016 by the University of California in San Diego).
He is a member of various orthopedics associations in Europe and the United States. In 1986 Gobbi became a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He was welcomed as an international member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
In Europe, Gobbi is a member of the European Surgery Knee Arthroscopy, as well as the Italian Association for arthroscopy, sports trauma, orthopedics and cartilage studies.
Internationally, he has worked as a member of the International Society of Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery (ISAKOS), and in 2003 he was nominated as a member of the Arthroscopy Committee in the Communication and Strategic Planning department. From 2008 until 2012 Gobbi was a member of the ISAKOS General Board, and is now Chairman of the Education Committee.
