Alexander Hrennikoff was a Russian-Canadian Structural Engineer, a founder of the Finite Element Method.

Background

Alexander was born in Russia, graduated from the Institute of Railway Engineering in Moscow, received M.A.Sc.

Career

Degree from the University of British Columbia (1933), and Doctorate.Sc degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1941). From 1933 until his death in 1984 he worked as a professor of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia.
