Career
He played first-class cricket for Western Australia, and Australian rules football for the West Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football Association (WAFA). He later served as president of the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and chairman of the Australian Football Council (AFC). Born in Perth, Western Australia, Moffatt played a number of games for Victorians (later Metropolitans and West Perth) in the WAFA, and later umpired a number of matches.
In one match in the 1885 season, Moffatt collided with an opponent, fracturing his thigh.
He also was involved in Western Australia"s first interstate cricket tour, playing two matches – against South Australia and Victoria – on the 1893 tour. Moffatt served as the Perth Football Club"s delegate to the WAFA from 1903 to 1919, and later served as the vice-president and president of the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and West Australian Amateur Football Association (WAAFA), and as chairman of the Australian Football Council (AFC).
He later worked as a law clerk, and was involved in a pay dispute in 1932.
