She competes in archery. Her greatest success came in the where she earned a bronze medal. She placed 21st in the women"s individual ranking round with a 72-arrow score of 637.
In the first round of elimination, she faced 44th-ranked Janet Dykman of the United States.
Williamson defeated Dykman 147-121 in the 18-arrow match to advance to the round of 32. In that round, she faced 53rd-ranked Japanese archer Sayoko Kawauchi, defeating her 154-150.
Williamson then defeated 5th-ranked Zhang Juanjuan of China 165-161, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Williamson faced He Ying, also of China, decisively defeating the 4th-ranked archer 109-89 in the 12-arrow match.
Williamson advanced to the semifinals, where she was defeated by Korean Park Sung Hyun 110-100, moving Williamson to the bronze medal match.
At the in Beijing Williamson finished her ranking round with a total of 651 points. This gave her the 7th seed for the final competition bracket in which she faced Wei Pi-Hsiu in the first round, beating the archer from Chinese Taipei with 108-99. Together with Naomi Folkard and Charlotte Burgess she also took part in the team event.
With her 651 score from the ranking round combined with another 651 of Folkard and the 623 of Burgess the British team was in second position after the ranking round, which gave them a straight seed into the quarter finals.
With 201-196 they were too strong for the Japanese team In the semi final against China they scored 202 points with the Chinese scoring 208, missing out on the final.
They were unable to recover in the bronze medal match and lost against France 203-201 to miss out on the medals. The England Team of Amy Oliver, Naomi Folkard and Alison Williamson suffered a narrow defeat to the host nation in the final.
At the in London Williamson lost out to Bishindi Uruntagulag in the individual event and was part of the British team that lost in the first round against Russia.
