He is currently managing FK Sarajevo. Born and raised in Sarajevo, Amar Osim started playing football in FK. After playing for youth team, he entered the senior squad in 1986.
In 1991, he left to France where he played for lower division clubs Social Research Saint-Dié and ASPV Strasbourg. In 1996, he returned to his home country.
He played one more season for his favourite FK before he retired from professional playing career.
His coaching career started in FK youth squad which he guided to success in domestic competitions. After Hajrudin Đurbuzović was sacked in spring of 2001, club officials promoted him to the place of the first team manager. He immediately led the club to two championship titles in 2001 and in 2002, being runner-up in season 2003 and claimed two national cup titles in 2001 and 2003, being the runner-up in 2002.
He also claimed the Bosnian Super Cup in 2001, after he claimed the double that year.
He was sacked at the beginning of 2003/2004 season, allegedly because of the poor results. His father invited him to Japan to be his assistant at.
After Ivica Osim was named the head coach of the Japanese national team, Amar was promoted. He guided JEF to winning the J. League Cup in 2006.
But after a poor finish to the 2007 season, in which finished in 13th place in the J. League, Osim was sacked.
After his Japanese adventure, Osim returned to his hometown and from July 2009, he returned to FK for his second spell as the club"s manager immediately winning the league title and finished as national cup runners up. He has more than one trophy per season in his coaching career. Manager J.
In 2012, he claimed once more the league title, with three round left to play, breaking many records on the way and also defended the national cup, bringing after 11 years the double back to Željezničar.
