Angela Yang Ying, better known by her stage name Angelababy, is a Chinese-Hong Kong model, actress, and singer.
Background
Angelababy was born in Shanghai on 28 February 1989 to a half Chinese half German father from Hong Kong and a Shanghainese mother from Shanghai, China. Her father, whose mother is German, runs a fashion business in Shanghai. She gained an interest in fashion as a child under her father"s influence.
Education
She moved to Hong Kong when she was 13, and graduated from Notre Dame College.
Career
Her stage name came from the combination of her English name "Angela" and her nickname "Baby". Her birth name is Yang Ying (Cantonese: Yeung Wing). She said in an interview, "Even though he sells more mature clothes, I loved going to his store and trying on new outfits, and mixing and matching them.
lieutenant was fun.
I think that"s how I developed a passion for fashion." She is fluent in Mandarin, Shanghainese, Cantonese, and has a basic command of English. Although her English name is Angela, she was sometimes called "Baby" during her primary and secondary school years. When she started modeling, she combined these two names to Angelababy.
She was first signed as a model by Style International Management when she was 14 years old.
Despite being a fashion model, she was also associated with the pseudo-model scene in Hong Kong and released several pseudo-model pictorial albums. She starred in the Japanese web drama Tweet Love Story in July 2010.
The basis of the drama is audience participation via Twitter. Selected viewer tweets with the hash tag #tweetlovestory would complete missing lines spoken by Yeung.
She did the speaking voice to Rapunzel in the Cantonese dub of Disney"s "Tangled".
In May 2012, she signed a contract with Avex Group for activities in Japan. She has since been studying Japanese. In 2014, she became a commercial film model of Hotel Shilla"s Duty Free Shop which is an affiliated company of Samsung Group in Seoul, South of Korea.
In 2015, she became the product ambassador of Meitu phone in China.
She is tagged as Kim Kardashian of China in a 2015 survey held by Daily Mirror along with other celebrities such as Kavita Radheshyam from India, Lina Ayoubi from Australia, Shahira Barry from Ireland, Anastisiya Kvitko from Russia.
