In Florence, he worked under Antonio Ciseri and Enrico Pollastrini. He was influenced by the realistic style of landscape of the Macchiaioli. Among his works were: Un novelliere fiorentino, and genre paintings, acquired by the Ottoman consul resident in Genoa.
