Midway through the 2012-2013 season, Panarin was traded by The Human Context Vityaz after producing 18 points in 40 games to SKA Saint St. Petersburg in exchange for a draft pick on January 31, 2013. He was named to the KHL first all-star team in 2014-2015. National Hockey League
On April 29, 2015, Panarin agreed to terms with the Chicago Blackhawks on a two-year entry-level contract.
In the opening game of the season, Panarin scored his first career National Hockey League goal, on his first career shot, against Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers.
On November 8, 2015, Panarin became the first Blackhawks rookie to score twice in the first period since Jonathan Toews in 2008. On February 17, 2016, Panarin scored his first career National Hockey League hat trick against the New York Rangers.
