Career
Probert, born in Aberdare, was the son of Albert John Probert, born in Bury Hill, Herefordshire and Margaret Probert, born in Aberaman, Aberdare. He was first elected as an Member of Parliament to the Commons for the Welsh constituency of Aberdare on 28 October 1954, in a by-election following the death of Labour Member of Parliament David Emlyn Thomas. Probert held the seat until he retired at the February 1974 general election.
He died in Pontypridd in 1975 aged 67.
