Levadia
In 2003, at the age of 17, Purje started his professional career with Levadia. In 2007, he was sent to Levadia"s reserve team, after refusing to sign a contract extension with the club Inter Turku
On 27 December 2007, he signed a 2-year contract with Finnish Veikkausliiga club Inter Turku.
On 9 February 2008, Purje scored his first goal in his first game for Inter Turku against Tallinna Kalev in a friendly match.
He scored his first Veikkausliiga goal also in his first Veikkausliiga match on 2'7 April 2008, in a 3–1 victory against RoPS. American Electric Power
On 1 June 2010, he signed a 1-year deal with Cypriot team American Electric Power, with an option to extend it by another year. He made his league debut on 29 August, where he scored the team"s only goal.
KuPS
Purje joined KuPS in 2012. He was the team"s top goalscorer in 2012 and 2014 seasons.
Nõmme Kalju
Purje joined Nõmme Kalju in 2015 after breakdowns in contract negotiations with KuPS. His contract was for 3 seasons.
He scored his first goal on his debut on the 3rd minute in a friendly match against Ventspils. Foreign Estonia national football team, Purje is capped 56 times, scoring 8 goals. He made his national team debut on 11 October 2006, in an Union of European Football Associations Euro 2008 qualifying match against Russia.
He scored his first goal on 20 August 2008, in a friendly match against Malta.
