Predebut
In a 2007 episode of the Business School variety show Amazing Contest Star King, Ye-rin performed "Listen" by Beyoncé and became known as a "contemporary Rhythm & Blues genius". After her Star King appearance, Ye-rin decided to audition for JYP Entertainment. She spent five years (2007-2012) training in South of Korea and the United States, and was called a "genius girl" for her vocal talent, skills in using the piano and fluency in the English language.

On September 27, 2012, JYP revealed Ye-rin will be debut as part of a duo along with Park Ji-minimum called 15&.
On October 7, the duo later debuted with their first single, "I Dream" on Inkigayo
Solo debut
In November 2015, Ye-rin debuted as a solo artist with her first solo album "Frank". The title song "Across the Universe" was released on November 30.
Ye-rin named her album title as a tribute to Amy Winehouse, whose debut album shared the same name. The title track"s lyrics were inspired from the film, The Martian.
