Achievements Jones competed for the United States at the 1952 Summer Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland, where she won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay with her teammates Mae Faggs, Janet Moreau and Catherine Hardy. Jones is the youngest female to win an Olympic gold medal in track & field at 15 years 123 days. She missed the following Olympics, but returned in the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy in the 4 x 100 meters, where she again won the gold medal with her teammates Martha Hudson, Lucinda Williams and Olympic 100 and 200 meters champion Wilma Rudolph.
