Background
Volodymyr Loboda was born on July 6, 1943 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukrainian SSR (present-day Dnipro, Ukraine). He is the son of Anna Kvitka and Victor Loboda, a self-taught artist.

Since 1965 to 1968, Volodymyr studied at Painting Faculty of National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kiev. In 1973, he graduated from Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
In 1971, Volodymyr participated in the "Discussion Exhibition" in Dnipro and since that time he was under constant supervision of the authorities. Since the late 1970s, he took part in joint art exhibitions. In 1981, the painter moved to Lviv.
In 1992, the painter and his wife founded a museum and a summer workshop in Turovo village. Since then, he spent most of his time in his workshop and museum, where he created picturesque and sculptural works, also writing poems, novels and essays.
Since the early 1990s, Volodymyr held his solo exhibitions at different galleries, including Lviv National Art Gallery in 1990 and others.
In 2007, Loboda's catalog album "Sculpture" was released.
In the late 1980s, Loboda created the society of artists "Step'" (Steppe).
Volodymyr is married to Lyudmila Loboda.
