Education
When Michelle was a kid, her family resided in Midway City, California. She studied at Fountain Valley High School, the educational establishment, which she finished in 1976. Then, for a year, Michelle attended Golden West College, where she studied to become a court reporter. While at the college, she also was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Approximately at the same time, when Pfeiffer attended Golden West College, she also worked as a supermarket checker at Vons, a large Southern California grocery chain.
In her later years, Michelle took acting lessons at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. She also studied acting under Geraldine Page in a workshop at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles.

She made her movie debut in 1980, assuming a small part in 1980's Falling in Love Again, and later attracted attention for her performances in Grease 2 (1982) and Scarface (1983). After winning acclaim for her work in The Witches of Eastwick (1987), she became a major star. She then appeared as the comic book character Janet Van Dyne in the movies Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pfeiffer also joined the cast of Disney's Maleficent for the 2019 sequel.
