Background
Gulnaz Dadashova was born into a family of educators in Baku on March 21st, 1975. Her initial education took place at Secondary School No. 191, where she was awarded a medal upon completion. In 1992, she enrolled at Azerbaijan Medical University's treatment-prophylaxis faculty and obtained a bachelor's degree in 1998. Following that, she completed her cardiologist internship at the Baku Railway Hospital from 1999 to 2000. Between 2002 and 2005, she pursued post-graduate studies in clinical pharmacology at Azerbaijan Medical University. In 2008, she earned a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences by successfully defending her research on "Optimizing the Treatment of Arterial Hypertension in Postmenopausal Women." She was granted the title of associate professor in 2016. In 2018, she defended her scientific work titled "Gender-Specific Characteristics of Chronic Heart Failure: Improving Diagnosis and Drug Treatment, Determining Prognosis and Survival Projections" and earned a doctorate in medical sciences. Gulnaz began her master's degree in doctor-cardiology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2019 and subsequently completed the Postgraduate Course of Heart Failure (PCHF) at the same university after graduating in 2022.
Career
After starting as a senior laboratory assistant at the Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology named after J. Abdullayev in 2006, Gulnaz Dadashova progressed to become a senior researcher in the heart failure department in 2014. Her appointment as director of the institute occurred on September 21, 2018, and she has since held that position.
Additionally, Gulnaz has been delivering lectures on Internal Medicine at the Clinical Pharmacology Department of Azerbaijan Medical University since 2007, and since 2019, she has been teaching at the Department of III Internal Medicine of Azerbaijan Medical University, specifically at the English department, and the Baku branch of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
Membership
Between 2016 and 2017, Gulnaz held two key positions in the field of cardiology. Firstly, she served as the chief coordinator of the OTRIMIZE HF Azerbaijan Registry for Chronic Heart Failure, an initiative of the European Society of Cardiology. Secondly, she was appointed as the head of the "Cardiovascular Pharmacology" working group at the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society (ACS).
