Maragos was born in Filiatra, Messinia, Peloponiso , in 1944. His movies apart from the awards,also gained commercial success . Maragos`s film `Isovites ` with Vangelis Mourikis was recently featured at the Berlin Greek Film Festival in 2025

He has been involved in television directing the series, "Obsessive Ideas" (Emmones Idees) working with Angelique Rockas and providing the young Vangelis Mourikis with his debut on Greek Television.
`Through the constant conflict with the establishment, Theodoros Maragos was loved by the public and films, such as "Learn My Child Letters", were a milestone in Greek cinema. The film "Lifelong Lives" was never screened in the big theaters because, according to Maragos himself, "it was fought by the existing system". In 1971, he again won the first prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival with his short feature-animated film, "Shshst!". In 1980, he won the first screenplay prize in San Remo with his feature film, "Thanasis Tighten the Belt Again", which was the second best-selling film of the year. In 1981, with his feature film, "Learn My Child Letters", he won the first four prizes at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. In 2005, he won the second prize for best documentary film at the Thessaloniki Film Festival with the fiction and animation documentary, "Black Eye...". Finally, a special place is held by the documentary, which was screened in 2018, under the title "It was all laughing".
