In one of their best-loved, most charming song-and-dance comedies, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers demonstrate just how they became known as America's greatest dance team. The comic plot is set into motion when Mimi (Rogers), her bumbling lawyer (Edward Everett Horton), and her busybody Aunt Hortense (Alice Brady) cook up an elaborate plan to get Mimi a divorce form her geologist husband. They hire a professional co-respondent to meet her in an English seaside resort with the pretense that they are having an affair, thereby laying the grounds for divorce. As fate would have it, however, Mimi mistakes American dancer Guy Holden (Astaire) as the co-respondent, leading form one humorous misunderstanding to another. Several great songs are introduced including "Night and Day" and "The Continental."
